Passing of Henrik Klinge: A Visionary Leader in Global Transport Refrigeration
-
-
- It is with profound sadness that Klinge Corporation announces the passing of Henrik Klinge, a trailblazing leader and beloved figure in the global transport refrigeration industry. Henrik passed away peacefully early on Monday, November 18, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy defined by innovation, commitment to excellence, and dedication to family values.
Henrik’s career journey began with a family business in 1971, following in the footsteps of his father, Paul, who founded the original Klinge business shortly after World War II. Together, Henrik and Paul steered the business through transformative growth, establishing Klinge as a trusted name in container refrigeration equipment for marine transport and beyond.
Henrik moved to the United States in 1986 to lead the company’s new North American operations in York, Pennsylvania, where he expanded the business’ offerings and client base. Under his leadership, the company introduced groundbreaking innovations such as tank container refrigeration and explosion-proof equipment for the oil and gas industry, securing contracts with major clients, including the Australian and Swedish Defence Forces.
Beyond professional achievements, Henrik was a dedicated family man who exemplified the values of integrity, perseverance, and adaptability. His unwavering commitment to maintaining the family legacy has inspired three generations of leadership at Klinge Corporation, with his son Allan Klinge taking the helm as CEO in 2022.
Henrik’s influence extended far beyond the business world. He was deeply respected for his mentorship, technical expertise, and ability to forge lasting relationships across multiple industries.
-
- Klinge Corporation and the entire Klinge family express their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of support from clients, colleagues, and friends worldwide during this difficult time.
Henrik Klinge’s passion, vision, and dedication will continue to guide Klinge Corporation as the team honors his memory by carrying forward the principles he held dear.

CEO Allan Klinge participated in an important Roundtable with industry peers focused on Owning Responsibility for Sustainability. Following the lively and spirited discussions, Mr. Klinge then presented the group’s findings to the conference attendees. These insights included: 1) the importance of baselining current sustainability measures such as CO2 emission, 2) understanding that there is no single solution, but rather that multiple, smaller initiatives would be needed to reach sustainability goals (often incrementally, as well), and 3) that the effort must be a whole of business approach. A lot of great energy and ideas!
